Effective work set executed by Clients

A registered device or machine can potentially match group membership criteria for multiple groups. To ensure that the correct work is assigned, Trust Protection Platform lets you easily prioritize groups in the Client Group Settings list.

When a client is a member of more than one group, Trust Protection Platform determines what work to assign to the agent based on the Client Group Settings' Work Priority. If multiple Client Group Settings have the same work type, the work that the Server Agent executes is the one assigned to the Group with the highest Work Priority. The highest priority work of that type allocated to this device from any groups will be processed.

NOTE  Dynamic Provisioning is an exception to this rule. If more than one group has Dynamic Provisioning work, each of those works will execute.

The following diagram shows how prioritization affects the way defined work gets applied on agents that appear in multiple groups:

DID YOU KNOW?  Trust Protection Platform stores the information collected from agents so that it can show correct, up-to-date memberships for current Client Group Settings configurations, even if a particular agent has not checked in since configuration changes had been made to one or more Client Group Settings.
