About the events.sq3 file

All Server Agent messages—regardless of severity level of a given message—are captured in the events.sq3 file. By default, the log_communications attribute is set to enabled and the event_row_count is set to 50000.

The purpose for the change is to provide a highly granular collection of Server Agent-related messages that can be used to determine the root cause of errors that might have occurred.

Server Agent configuration (and the events.sq3 log) files are stored in drive:\Program Files\Venafi\Agent\Data\ on Windows, and in /var/opt/venafi/agent/data/ and on Linux and Unix.

Depending on the pattern of logged messages to events.sq3, this file could require up to 20MB or more. If disk space becomes an issue, you can reduce the default events_row_count.

BEST PRACTICE  When the maximum row count you specify is reached, the 50 oldest rows are deleted to make room for newer messages. Because old messages are deleted, consider using the default 50000 event_row_count setting, or set the count even higher while troubleshooting.
