Additional Venafi agent system requirements and considerations

The following table lists additional system requirements for a Venafi Server Agent's client application.

Requirement

Details

DNS

Networking and DNS configured correctly so the client can resolve the Trust Protection Platform server’s hostname.

IMPORTANT  The agent must have a locally resolvable hostname. In addition, the host name specified in the URL must match the Venafi Operational Certificate's host name.

Disk Space

200 MB free disk space (150 MB for agent and 50 MB to store results waiting to be returned to the Trust Protection Platform server).

Permissions

On Windows, the agent must be installed as a user with administrative permissions. Administrative rights are required to protect the server agent's files from other users on the system.

On Unix and Linux, the agent must be installed with the root user account. The agent files are owned by the root user on Unix and Linux platforms. All commands to interact with the agent, including configuration, must be run using the root user account.

All users in the domain or directory where Venafi Trust Protection Platform 25.1 is bound can log into the web interface. By default, all Active Directory or LDAP users have no permissions assigned to any objects.
