Connectors configuration

The Venafi Configuration Console Connectors node provides access to the various connectors that integrate with third-party hardware and software.

The categories of connectors are:

  • Encryption Connectors

The detail for each encryption connector shows how that particular connector is used. It will list one or more of the following:

    • Data Encryption - Data Encryption Key(s) stored on the HSM that are used to encrypt and decrypt key material
    • Key Generation - The HSM is used to generate the key pair. The key pair is then exported to Trust Protection Platform for storage. This feature requires Venafi Advanced Key Protect. For more information, see Venafi Advanced Key Protect.
    • Key Storage - The HSM is use to generate and store the key pair. The private key does not leave the HSM. Only applicable to CodeSign Protect. This feature requires Venafi Advanced Key Protect. For more information, see Venafi Advanced Key Protect and Understanding CodeSign Protect.
  • Identity Connectors
  • Credential Connectors
  • SMTP Default Connectors - The server configuration settings that allow Venafi Platform to send e-mail notifications through an SMTP server. For information, see Setting up SMTP settings for outbound email connections.

You can create the following new connectors, or take one of the following actions:

Depending on the selected connector, you can take several actions including:

  • Export Key. This is the action you take to export a copy of the system-generated (or manually entered) software key that encrypts the secrets stored in the Venafi Trust Protection Platform database. For more information see Backing up the software encryption key.
  • Rotate Key. This action allows you to rotate an underlying encryption key used to encrypt secrets stored in the Venafi Trust Protection Platform database. For more information see Rotate Secret Store encryption keys.
  • Properties. This action allows you to modify a connector's settings.
