Using Instant Discovery

In the classic policy tree, you can perform an instant discovery on an individual IPv4 or IPv6 address and port to discover SSL certificates. During the scan process, Trust Protection Platform sends SSL and SSH requests to the target ports at the designated IP addresses. If the server responds, Trust Protection Platform retrieves the server’s certificate or SSH public key.

You can also run discovery jobs manually. For more information, see Manually running, canceling, or pausing a discovery job.

To perform a quick discovery in Classic Policy Tree

  1. From the menu bar, click Classic Policy Tree.
  2. To the right of the tree drop-down, click the Instant Discovery button.
  3. In the Host Name / IP Address, type either a fully qualified domain name or IP address of the target system.

  4. In the Port field, type the port on which an application that's using SSL is currently running.

    The default port is 443.

  5. Click Discover.
