Adding another server to the Trust Protection Platform network
There are several reasons for adding another server to your Trust Protection Platform network.
Here are a few scenarios:
- You need an application delivery controller or fail-safe server
- You have isolated network segments and a single Trust Protection Platform server can't access your entire network
- You need scalability and have specialized servers dedicated to UI access, performing discoveries, or servicing the agents.
To add another server
-
Copy the Trust Protection Platform installation file (VenafiTPPInstall-25.1.x.msi) to the new server.
Export and copy the software encryption key from the existing server (if the software encryption key is used in your environment).
To learn more, see Managing the default software encryption key.
-
Run the .msi file.
The installation wizard will walk you through the installation process.
Be sure to use the same encryption key(s) from the existing server on the new server so that the database is using the same key(s) on both servers.
- Follow the onscreen prompts to install Trust Protection Platform on the additional server.
About application delivery controllers
When you have multiple Venafi Trust Protection Platform servers in a cluster, the servers automatically work together to ensure proper load balancing between the Venafi servers in the cluster.
When scheduling daily tasks, the recommended configuration is to schedule them to start at the same time across the servers.
