Filter channel
The Filter channel allows the Venafi log server to block certain events or severity levels from being passed to other channels. This is primarily used for the default channel as a way to prevent unhelpful amounts of logging.
To implement a Filter channel, you must configure the Filter channel as an intermediary channel between the event source and the final output channel. It is configured in Venafi Configuration Console (VCC).
To filter the default channel
-
In VCC, open Tools > Logging > Channels.
- Create the Filter channel.
- Configure the Filter channel's Target Channel attribute to point to the default log channel (this is usually the Default SQL Server channel).
-
Open the Tools > Logging > Servers node.
-
Click the log server, then click Properties.
-
In the Default Channel setting, specify your new Filter channel.
-
If you have multiple log servers, repeat the previous two steps for all logging servers. It's important that all log servers use the same default channel settings.
For more information on the Log server configuration, see Managing the log server.
-
Open the Product node in VCC and Restart the Logging service.
