Logging in

The first time you log in to Venafi Platform, you must use the default master administrator role (admin). The password for this account is defined during installation. For more information about the master administrator, see Understanding system roles.

In Trust Protection Platform, user directories are closed systems. This means that local users can see only local users and groups. Likewise, external users from a directory service can see only external users and groups within their own directory service provider.

To log in to Venafi Platform

  1. Open a supported browser window and browse to the following address:

    http://Trust Protection Platform_server/

TIP  Trust Protection Platform_server is the IP address or the hostname of the Trust Protection Platform server. Trust Protection Platform supports IPv4 or IPv6 connections.

IPv6 addresses must be in an acceptable format: http://Trust Protection Platform_server_IPv6_address)/

  2. In the Login dialog, do one of the following, and then click Login:

    • To log in to your local directory, type the administrator user name and password. If your AD connector has a Driver Loading Rank of 0, then you must log in using the Local:username format. For more information on connector ranking, see Configuring the Local connection.
    • To log in using an AD administrator account, depending on your AD environment, you can use one of the following formats:

      • SAM account name.
      • Domain name syntax (domain_name\username).
      • User Principle Name syntax (valid_user@orgUnit.domain.com).
      • The identity connector type plus the friendly name ( AD+friendly name).
    • To log in using an LDAP administrator account, use the identity connector type plus the friendly name and account name (LDAP+ODSEE:admin).

Venafi Platform supports single sign on across products, so as you move between products, you don't have to sign in to each one individually.
