Configuring the Local connection
The Local Connection object is automatically created and configured during installation. It includes only two configuration options: the Permissions tab and Identity settings.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Users & Groups Tab |
In Trust Protection Platform, user directories are closed systems. This means that local users can see only local users and groups. Likewise, external users can see only external users and groups within their own directory (or within the local directory, if configured). |
|
Adds a user or group to the Local user directory. For more information, see Creating local user identities. |
|
Removes a user or group from the Local user directory. For more information, see Deleting teams. |
Search |
Allows you to search for a specific user or group. You can enter a combination of letters and wildcard characters to broaden the search. For example, “a*” will return all users and groups that start with the letter “a.” |
Filter |
Allows you to filter which objects display in the tree. The menu toggles between a Show All and Filtered state. For more information, see Filtering the Tree view. |
|
Exports the data displayed on the Users & Groups tab to a CSV, tab-delimited, HTML, or XML file. |
|
Refreshes the contents of the current tree. |
Mapping Table Tab |
|
|
In the Local user directory, the Mapping Table tab allows you to define the mapping rules for custom User and Group attributes that you want to reference in Trust Protection Platform macros. The Trust Protection Platform macro language allows you to call custom input for system configuration fields. This macro language is particularly useful when configuring system notifications and workflows. Using the macro language, you can call variable content for fields such as message recipient or sender, message body, or workflow approver. The default macros provided with Trust Protection Platform correctly reference local User and Group attributes. Consequently, there is no need to define mappings for the default macros. If, however, you create macros that reference attributes not defined in local User and Group objects, you must map the custom attributes to local User and Group object attributes. Mapping is required only if the attribute referenced in the macro does not match a Trust Protection Platform User or Group attribute in the local directory. For more information, see Defining mapping rules for Local user and group attributes—Mapping Table tab. |
Connection Settings Tab
|
|
Driver Loading Rank |
Determines the order in which Trust Protection Platform looks at the configured user directories when a user logs in to an administration console. Trust Protection Platform looks at the lowest ranked user directory first. By default, the Driver Loading Rank for all Identity connectors is zero (0). If you have multiple connections, you must modify the Driver Loading Rank to reflect your system’s usage. |
Permissions tab |
On the Permissions tab, you select the users or groups to whom you want to grant permissions to the current object. Then, you select which permissions you want the users or groups to have. You can also manage object permissions via parent objects, including the root Platform object or the Trust Protection Platform server object (found in the Platforms tree). If you configure Permissions in a parent object, those permissions are inherited by all subordinate objects. |
