Managing the log server

The Venafi Platform log server manages the flow of information to the default channel, interprets notification rules, and utilizes channels to deliver targeted log messages based on those rules. It reviews defined events, then logs all events to the default log channel to ensure there is a complete audit trail of all system operations and events. Once an event is logged to the default channel, the log server checks notification rules to see if any rules match. If there is a matching notification rule, the log server forwards the log data to the appropriate channels, which deliver the log to the defined service, location, or person.

The Servers node shows the log servers in the cluster, and is where you can specify the default log channel.

As a safeguard, whenever you make configuration changes to the default log channel, you need to restart the log server service.  All other channel changes will refresh after configuration changes, and do not require a service restart.
